Katavi National park is a fourth largest Tanzania national park, located 40 km south of Mpanda town in Katavi region, southwest Tanzania. The park covers the area of 4,471 km2. Katavi national park is one of the most untouched areas in the entire country; it is a very remote park that is less frequently visited than other Tanzanian national parks.
The park is an ideal destination for game viewing, walking safari, bird watching, night game drive and camping safari. It is a home to a large population of hippo, crocodiles, cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas, leopards, lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, elephants and varied birdlife.
The park is accessible by road from either Dar es Salaam via Mbeya region or Arusha via Tabora region or Mwanza via Mpanda, by railway and by Air.
